Why bother trying? Let the masters dazzle. We should just consume.

Very important to measure mastery on your own terms, too, and not worry about whether other people will understand what you’re doing. If you have mastered your art, and you’re not just being a delusional simpleton, then the art will be plenty enough pleasing, even if you’re not quite laughing all the way to the bank. People will get what you’re doing when they’re ready, and in the meantime, you’ve made something you love. That’s from someone who considers himself a master of my art, albeit with an audience of about ten 😛
